Organized in 1904 to represent both shippers and growers, our mission is to advance and enhance the tree fruit industry in Washington State.
We provide education and training programs to meet the changing needs of the statewide tree fruit industry and serve as the advocate on issues affecting the tree fruit industry, particularly on legislation and regulation.
Tree fruit industry members are invited to help bring a personal voice of the tree fruit industry to Olympia by attending the 8th Annual Tree Fruit Day on February 2, 2010.
Tree Fruit Day brought industry members face-to-face with legislators in Olympia to highlight the value of the tree fruit industry in the state of Washington. The day’s events will include several legislative office visits with legislators. Face-to-face meetings with legislators are absolutely crucial for legislators to understand and hear our issues.
For more information about how you can participate in our 2010 Tree Fruit Day, contact Lynette at the WSHA office at (509) 665-9641 or email lynette@wahort.org. Also, be sure to watch your mailbox for more information later this fall on next year's event.

The 2009 Legislative Session Concluded April 26, in time for the legislature to send 2009-11 operating and capital budgets and nearly 600 bills to the governor. During the 2009 session, lawmakers introduced 2,584 bills and approved 599. The governor has until May 19 to sign bills approved by the legislature. Bills that the governor does not veto within 20 days of the end of session become law without her signature. She may veto portions of bills, but nothing smaller than a full section.
